AREA III. Pesticides
Project 26:
Pesticides
Description:
This project is aimed at fine-tuning advanced techniques for the analysis
of pesticide residues in wines, aimed at their control, establishing a
pilot program for the monitoring of pesticide residues and other pollutants
in wines. A residue analysis laboratory for phytosanitary products, with
“multi-residue” detection techniques for application in both
grapes and wine will be implemented.
The laboratory shall be certified by the international research network
MGPR, which studies the connection between pesticides and human health.
As a result of this project, guidelines indicating what phytosanitary
products to use and how to use them will be provided.
It is important to highlight that there are countries, which will start
to require chemical residue certificates just as Japan is already doing.
Outcomes:
Create and implement a certified residue analysis laboratory, for phytosanitary
products, and to implement multi-residue analysis techniques for phytosanitary
products, applicable to both grapes and wine.
Develop an analytical platform for the quality assurance systems of the
wineries who take part in the execution of the project.
Researcher’s comment:
As a result of the project, the country will have a certified laboratory
which will give prompt response to the analyses, which in some cases are
required abroad. This will improve the competitive situation of our country,
placing at the disposal of enologists and wineries a rapid certification
response for pesticide residues in wines.
